National Black Catholic Congress XII - July 6-9

The National Black Catholic Congress is comprised of member organizations, represents African American Roman Catholics, working collaborating with National Roman Catholic organizations.

The focus of Congress XII on justice, love and walking humbly with God, challenges us to be true evangelizers.  We are called to acknowledge the modern world’s rejection of human beings, and we are encouraged to speak out in meaningful ways as people dedicated to the Gospel.  “Our concern for social justice, moreover, goes beyond denouncing injustice in the world around us.  It brings us to the examination of our own hearts and intentions.  Let us pay close attention to those in need, let us respond with love and then, perhaps, we can walk humbly with our God. The spirit of the Lord is Upon Me: act justly, love goodness, and walk humbly with your God.”

If we truly value our Catholicity, what will we do? How will we respond to this modern world ​around us? It is clear that we must do something.  Where do we begin as we create leadership positions in our Church for youth and young adults that allow true collaboration that honors the wisdom of current Church leaders?  How do we also galvanize our people to communicate between parishes ‑ to break down all that separates us as Black Catholics so that every person can be loved as God intended? 

This should be our goal as we prepare for Congress XII ‑ to generate ideas that encourage creativity, freedom and innovation ‑ all aimed toward inspiring us to act justly, love goodness, and walk humbly with our God.
