Monsignor Thomas W. Weinzapfel Final Radio Interview
Listen to the audio from the final radio interview of Monsignor Thomas W. Weinzapfel, where he discusses oversleeping on the day of his ordination and his beautiful answer to the question, "How would you like to close out your priestly ministry in your life?"
From the interview -
Dave Palmer: How would you like to close out your priestly ministry in your life? Is there anything else you want to accomplish? Anything else on your wish list?
Monsignor Weinzapfel: My wish list is a happy death, and for the Lord to take me home, which I've been looking forward to from my childhood. That's why I became a priest, is because of our Lord, our Savior, our God, the triune God ... the prospects of a life of eternal happiness so outshadowed anything that I could see on this earth. So I said, "What can I do about it? Well, I want to a priest."
Keep your eyes focused on the Lord, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He is the answer to it all. He's the reason for our faith, He's the reason of our hope, He is our Savior, He brings us life. He brings us eternal happiness, which he promises if we are loyal to Him, preserve our faith and have confidence.
You know, the virtue of Hope - H. O. P. E. - is not spoken of very much. Yet this is a virtue that is so important, that we have hope, which means simply [that] we trust our God, we believe that He will fulfill his promise and that He will see us through ... His grace, His love will take us through this life into His heavenly home.
