Bishop Edward J. Burns to Celebrate Christmas Mass at Cathedral and at Prison

Bishop Burns will celebrate Christmas by offering the Mass at Cathedral Guadalupe on Sunday, December 24th at 8pm.

Bishop Edward J. Burns will mark the birth of Jesus Christ when he celebrates the Mass on Christmas Eve (English) at 8 pm, December 24, 2017 at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, 2215 Ross Avenue in Downtown Dallas. The Mass will feature beautiful Christmas hymns performed by the Cathedral Chorale.

Bishop Burns will also celebrate Mass on Christmas morning with the inmates and staff at the Federal Corrections Institute in Seagoville. The bishop says that Pope Francis has been a wonderful example of reaching out to the incarcerated and disenfranchised. “Since I became a bishop in 2009, I've celebrated Christmas Mass in a prison. I'm glad to be able to continue this tradition here in the Diocese of Dallas. Jesus Christ was born so that we may be set free from sin and that we may live in love and hope. It is my desire to express that message to those who are incarcerated; and recognizing my past experiences, they cling to that message all the more on Christmas Day."
