Catholic Schools Week Celebrated January 26-31 in Diocese of Dallas

National Catholic Schools Week is being celebrated throughout the Diocese of Dallas with a variety of activities.

On Monday, Bishop Edward Burns and Superintendent Dr. Matt Vereecke (pronounced Veh-reek- y) got a visit from students from Mary Immaculate Catholic School in Farmers Branch and St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Oak Cliff, for a fun afternoon of creating Valentine cards for others in our community who might need a pick-me-up.

The students packaged up their works of art with small stuffed animals that will be sent to children at Scottish Rite Hospital and packed boxes of candy for residents at a senior center.

Today, there are 37 Catholic schools in the Diocese of Dallas with an enrollment of more than 15,000 students.

There are a variety of events at all campuses in the diocese to allow students to reflect and have fun while celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Many of these events involve an aspect of community service to help students learn more about the needs of people and the environment in their local area and around the world.
