National Catholic Schools Week - Diocese of Dallas Schools celebrate safely during the pandemic
Students, faculty and staff at schools throughout the Diocese of Dallas are celebrating National Catholic Schools Week, January 31st – February 6th.
Students, faculty and staff at schools throughout the Diocese of Dallas are celebrating National Catholic Schools Week, January 31st – February 6th. The first Catholic school opened its doors in the Diocese of Dallas in 1874. Today, there are more than 15,000 students enrolled in the 31 schools in the Diocese of Dallas school system led by Superintendent Dr. Matt Vereecke.
While COVID-19 precautions have altered celebrations this year, there are still a variety of socially distanced events at all campuses in the diocese to allow students to reflect and have fun while safely celebrating their Catholic school education. Many of these are virtual events and involve an aspect of community service to help students give back and learn more about the needs of people and the environment in the local community and around the world.
Students at many of the schools are writing thank you letters or sending goody baskets to medical personnel and other first responders. Some schools will hold Rosary circles on Zoom to pray for all those impacted by COVID and for an end to the virus.
