"Catholic Foundation Sunday" Weekend – October 13-14, 2012

Bishop Kevin J. Farrell has designated October 13-14, 2012, as “Catholic Foundation Sunday” weekend throughout the Diocese of Dallas. While the Bishop is encouraging diocesan-wide recognition of the Foundation, there will not be a collection for the Foundation. The goal is for parishioners across the Diocese to learn more about the work the Foundation has been able to accomplish because of the generosity of many donors.

“Catholic Foundation Sunday is a way that the Diocese can express its appreciation to The Catholic Foundation for the work it has done over the years.  At the same time, it is an opportunity to bring the Foundation’s work to the attention of parishioners.  The Foundation has been a long lasting and permanent source of funding throughout the Diocese and is providing a legacy for our Catholic church throughout North Texas,” said Bishop Farrell.

The Catholic Foundation is the home of Catholic philanthropy in the Diocese of Dallas.  The Foundation is a charity established to receive contributions from donors and to make charitable grants to meet the needs of the Catholic community.  Since its founding in 1955, the Foundation has made a huge impact through distributing $73 million in grants to various religious, educational and charitable organizations.

The Catholic Foundation works with individuals and families interested in charitable giving today as well as creating their philanthropic legacy that addresses community needs throughout the Catholic community. The Foundation has supported virtually every school and parish in the Diocese over the years.  As a community foundation for the local Catholic community, the Foundation needs support from local parishioners to continue its mission.

The Catholic Foundation was founded by a group of dedicated Catholic laymen with a vision that extended far beyond the charitable needs of the moment. This independent, nonprofit corporation has dedicated its resources to compassionate charitable giving through grants provided by benefactors through its many planned giving programs.  For additional information about The Catholic Foundation, call 972.661.9792 or visit www.catholicfoundation.com.
