En Inglés

Bishop Edward J. Burns will mark the birth of Jesus Christ when he celebrates the Mass on Christmas Eve at 4 pm, December 24, 2022 at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, 2215 Ross Avenue in Downtown Dallas.

The Mass will feature beautiful Christmas hymns performed by the Cathedral Choir accompanied by Director Chris Johnson on the historic 1871 pipe organ as well as a brass quartet. Cantor Laurie DePauw will lead the congregation in singing carols beginning at 3:50 p.m.

Bishop Burns will also once again celebrate Christmas Mass with those in prison. This year, he will join the inmates and staff at the Texas Department of Corrections State Jail in Hutchins for Mass on Christmas morning. The bishop says that Pope Francis has been a wonderful example of reaching out to the incarcerated.

“In reaching out to the disenfranchised, our Holy Father reminds us that Jesus Christ was born so that we may be set free from sin and that we may live in love and hope. It is my desire to express that message to those who are incarcerated; and recognizing my past experiences, they cling to that message all the more on Christmas Day."

Christmas Eve and morning Masses will also be celebrated at parishes throughout the nine counties that make up the Diocese of Dallas.

Check with the local parish for Mass times. The Diocese of Dallas is comprised of 1.3 million Catholics living in Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall counties.
