Golden Anniversary Mass
The Diocese of Dallas hosted the sixth annual Golden Anniversary Mass and Blessing for those couples who were married in 1969 or earlier.
Some 200 couples from throughout the Dallas area gathered today at Cathedral Guadalupe in downtown Dallas to celebrate being married for 50 and 50+ years. The Diocese of Dallas hosted the sixth annual Golden Anniversary Mass and Blessing for those couples who were married in 1969 or earlier.
Bishop Edward Burns celebrated the Mass for the couples being honored and their family members who attended the occasion. Bishop Burns thanked the couples for their long commitment to the sacrament of marriage calling them a shining example of love and faith. The bishop offered a special blessing to the couples, including at least two husbands and wives married for 70 years. That means they would have said "I do" in 1949.
In total, the couples represent nearly 10,000 years of marriage.
