Advocacy Alert for School Choice
Some last-minute activity in Austin at the state capitol could derail the opportunity for parents to truly exhibit their sacred responsibility of educating their children.
Some last-minute activity in Austin at the state capitol could derail the opportunity for parents to truly exhibit their sacred responsibility of educating their children. That’s the word from the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops. The organization is urging the faithful across the state to oppose an amendment to the House Budget, HB 1, prohibiting funding for parental choice in education.
Attempting to prohibit funding in the budget seeks to eliminate prudent debate regarding the best way to educate all Texas students. Several parental choice bills before the House and parents deserve the opportunity for hearings on the policy, rather than a budget amendment to reduce their voice.
The message from the Texas Bishops, including the Catholic Diocese of Dallas Bishop Edward J. Burns, is to vote NO budget amendments that would halt parental choice. There are easy steps to take.
Call your State Representative and encourage them to support parents and to VOTE NO on the budget amendment that would kill parental choice.
