Statement from Bishop Kevin J. Farrell

Catholics join the community in mourning the death of Thomas Eric Duncan. We in the Diocese of Dallas had joined people around the world in praying that Mr. Duncan would beat the Ebola virus and return to good health. We are saddened that he has lost his courageous fight for life.

Catholics join the community in mourning the death of Thomas Eric Duncan.  We in the Diocese of Dallas had joined people around the world in praying that Mr. Duncan would beat the Ebola virus and return to good health.  We are saddened that he has lost his courageous fight for life.

I ask that all join me in praying for the repose of Mr. Duncan’s soul and for the family and loved ones he leaves behind.  Let us ask God our Heavenly Father to comfort and sustain them during this most difficult time of loss and uncertainty.

I also pray that trust and calm will prevail in our community.   Let us remain confident in the abilities of our medical community both on the local and national level and let us work together to maintain a reasonable response to this sad news.
