Cathedral Mass to commemorate canonizations for Popes John XXIII and John Paul II on Sunday, April 27th

On Sunday, April 27, 2014, Pope Francis will declare two former Popes, Blessed John XXIII (1958-1963) and John Paul II (1978-2005), the Catholic Church’s newest saints at a Mass in St. Peter’s Square.

Bishop Kevin J. Farrell, as well as a pilgrimage group of approximately 100 Catholics, will be among the estimated 4 million pilgrims expected to witness the canonization ceremony at the Vatican.

Special Masses

Sunday, April 27 - 12:00 PM, Cathedral Guadalupe

For those unable to travel to Rome are invited to attend a special Mass at Cathedral Guadalupe this Sunday. Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, will be celebrating a special Mass at Cathedral Guadalupe this Sunday, April 27. The Noon Mass (celebrated in English) will commemorate the canonization of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II.

Monday, April 28 - 10:00 AM, John Paul II High School

To celebrate the Canonization of Blessed Pope John Paul II with the John Paul II High School community, a special Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the large competition gym.
