Ash Wednesday is February 18, 2015

Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2015, marks the beginning of the Season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which all Christians attain redemption.  Ashes are placed on the forehead to humble hearts and remind the faithful that life passes away on Earth. Ashes are a symbol of penance made sacramental by the blessing of the Church, and they help recipients develop a spirit of humility and sacrifice.

The Most Reverend Kevin Farrell, Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas, will preside over the Ash Wednesday Mass at 12 noon at the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, 2215 Ross Avenue in Downtown Dallas.
