705.2 Introduction to Building Intercultural Competence

Pastoral ministers serve an increasing number of nationalities, language groups, cultures, and races.  The Gospel calls us to encounter others and spread the Good News. This course offers an introduction to the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for ministers to be effective in the Church’s evangelizing mission.


At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Gain an awareness of the Church’s changing face in the United States and in Dallas and the implications for ministry
  • Understand the need and the importance of intercultural knowledge, attitudes and skills
  • Acquire a foundational first level of competence in culture and intercultural relations 

This is an advanced elective of 5 credit hours in the area of Methodology and Ministerial Skills.



Dates /Times:

Mon. and Tues. Nov. 3 and 4 from 6:45-9:15 P.M.  Must attend both sessions to receive credit.

Dr. Hoffsman Ospino from Boston College, who was the principal investigator and author of a recent report entitled: Hispanic Ministry in Catholic Parishes: A Summary   Report of Findings from the National Study of Catholic Parishes with Hispanic Ministry.
