Getting Started as a Catechist - Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ (Carrollton) (11/5 and 11/12)

Course #202. Getting Started as a Catechist introduces new catechists to some basics that will help them take their first steps as catechists. They will learn how to set up their classroom space, how to create an appropriate social climate for catechesis, appropriate ways to use creative activities, and the basics of session planning.


At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Create the physical environment for catechesis
  • Provide a social environment in which faith can be nurtured
  • Use creative activities in learning
  • Develop successful lesson plans
  • Develop good behavior management and discipline techniques
  • Help learners pray together

This is a beginner course of 5 hours.

Weds. November 5 and 12  7:00 P.M.- 9:30 P.M.

Must attend the two sessions to receive credit for catechetical continuing formation.

Who should attend:
New or existing catechists who speak either English or Vietnamese (or both) and who are looking to gain tools and techniques to help them in this important ministry of transmitting the faith.
