--

One day every two years, we have a special opportunity to act as faithful citizens, aligning ourselves with the Catholic Social Tradition as the unified voice of the Bishops of Texas. The Texas Catholic Conference Advocacy Day 2013 is almost here, taking place on Tuesday, April 9th. On this day, during the Texas Legislative Session, we will join members of Catholic dioceses from across our great state at the Capitol in Austin to support the Legislative Agenda of the Texas Bishops before the Texas Legislature.

This is the first year that we project that every diocese in Texas will be represented. Our goal is that every Texas legislator will have a visit from at least one Catholic constituent from his/her district. To succeed in this, the Diocese of Lubbock issued a challenge two years ago: to bring 300 advocates. They already have their 300! We do not...so, please help us meet this goal!!

There have been trainings held in the Diocese of Dallas, and recruitment efforts are ongoing, but we need your support! A collaboration of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Catholic Charities of Dallas is ready at hand to coordinate volunteers and do trainings on advocacy and the legislative agenda.

What You Can Do

Sign up, familiarize yourself with the agenda, and attend the briefing - taking place March 20th in the gym of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located at 3811 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX 75219, from 7-8:30pm.
