PILGRIMAGE TO ENGLAND - JUNE 17, 2023
WITH BISHOP EDWARD J. BURNS OF THE DIOCESE OF DALLAS
Join a Pilgrimage to England
Bishop Edward J. Burns of the Diocese of Dallas is leading a pilgrimage to England this summer. Bishop Burns called upon the CBA to organize this pilgrimage in 2018. After cancellation due to Covid in 2020, we are thrilled that he will finally lead us on the journey, accompanied by Thomas More scholars David Oakley and Lou Karlin. The pilgrimage will feature daily Mass, daily meditations on the English martyrs and saints, and 8 hours of CLE credit in the form of daily seminars.
Here is the full itinerary: Barristers and Martyrs.pdf.
Sites include:
- The Chelsea Estate of St. Thomas More
- All of the London sites frequented by St. Thomas More
- A Tour of Parliament, Westminster Hall, and Westminster Abbey
- Tower of London (site of the imprisonment and execution of Sts. More and Fisher)
- Oxford, with a focus on the sites of Sts. Thomas More and Cardinal Henry Newman
- Rochester (the home of St. John Fisher)
- Canterbury, with a focus on the martyrdom of St. Thomas Becket
- Littlemore (where Cardinal Newman entered the Church)
- Runnymeade and Windsor Castle
- A Feast Day reception with the Catholic Lawyers’ Guild of London
The pilgrimage originates and ends in London so that all travelers can make their own travel arrangements to London, and plan other European travel before and/or after the pilgrimage. Accommodations will be at the Tower Hotel London, a 4-star hotel near Tower Bridge.
