Job Description

St Michaels is a diverse and strong parish
We are seeking someone with experience in the music of the catholic mass to join our family
Full or Part time status will be determined at the time a candidate is selected
Applicants must;

• Play 5:00 Vigil Mass and Sunday 10:30 Mass
• Train and direct 10:30 am Choir and Volunteer Cantors
• Maintenance of Piano and Organ both inside Church and Parish Hall
• Develop a prayerful, singing assembly through the celebration of the Holy Eucharist
• Stations of the cross and Benediction during Lent
• Respect diversity in music genres

Job Requirements

Organist/Music Director
• Play 5:30 Vigil Mass and Sunday 10:30 Mass
• Train and direct 10:30 am Choir and Volunteer Cantors
• Maintenance of Piano and Organ both inside Church and Parish Hall
• Develop a prayerful, singing assembly through the celebration of the Holy Eucharist
• Stations of the cross and Benediction during Lent
• Manage Volunteer involvement across ministries: EM, Altar Servers, Lectors utilizing the online scheduling database
• Provide musical resources for other musical leaders when requested
• Be accountable for music expenditures
• Oversees compliance with copyright laws and licensing procedures
• Create and Maintain a Choral Library and create a database using a system in line with library sciences
• Approve non parish musicians
• Participate in staff meetings
• Respect diversity in music genres
• Answer music ministry correspondence and calls in a timely manner
• Prepare Liturgical Music for each weekend and Holy days of Obligation in the Catholic Church: Ascension Thursday, Assumption of Mary, All Saints Day, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Christmas. Music must be in accordance with the gospel message, readings, and psalm
• Prepare Music for Easter Triduum
• Prepare Funeral Liturgy(align altar servers if available, set up for funeral mass, meet with family of deceased and work with them the Funeral Liturgy Rubric that was created • Research Music for Choir that will be suitable to their skill level
Qualifications
• Degree in Music (BM, MM, or DM in Piano or Organ)
• Experience in a pastoral setting and knowledge to teach catechetical meaning of hymns
• Knowledge of Hymnody
• Understanding of Novus Ordo and the rubrics of the Roman Missal
