Job Description

The Highlands is a PK-12 private Catholic college prep school of 380 students located in the Las Colinas are of Irving, Texas. It is known for excellent academics and strong character/spiritual formation. It has been recognized by the Cardinal Newman Society as one of the top 5% of Catholic schools in the nation for academics, catholic identity, and civic education. The school is a strong faith community with a wonderful family atmosphere.

The Highlands is seeking to hire a Director of Development. This key position in the school brings parents, alumni, and other supporters together to help the Highlands to grow financially and fulfill its mission in forming young Christian leaders. As such it is responsible for achieving the school’s operating fundraising targets and supporting the President in his responsibility to achieve the school’s capital fundraising targets and overall advancement. The main areas of responsibility are:
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with current and potential donors (parents, alumni, and other supporters)
• running the annual fund drive (North Texas Giving Day)
• overseeing the gala/auction and its volunteer staff
• grant writing
• support in the development and execution of any capital campaigns.

The position requires some evening and weekend availability for networking and fundraising events and activities.

Job Requirements

• Excellent communication/people skills (1:1 interaction with donors, written communication, public speaking)
• Strong general business skills
• Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
• Appreciation for The Highlands School education and its methodology
• Practicing Catholic with an excellent moral reputation and a desire to work for the Church
• Minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising or other easily transferrable work experience
• Proficient in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
