Job Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the main function of the Development Assistant is to help nurture and expand our institutional donor relationships and administer special fundraising campaigns, in particular the Life Partner and Donor Acknowledgement programs. This position is also responsible for researching grant opportunities, drafting grant applications, and managing required grant reporting in coordination with the Development Director and appropriate Ministry Directors. The Development Assistant will also provide support as needed for fundraising events, in-home donor cultivation events, and the Bishop’s Pro-Life Dinner, with specific responsibility for overseeing the Bishop’s Dinner silent and live auctions in collaboration with the Executive Director and Development Director.

Job Requirements

- Must be service-oriented, maintain confidentiality, be open-minded, and be a successful
- Bachelor's degree (Business, Marketing, Communications or Public Relations preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in non-profit development, including administering projects,
organizing volunteers and personal and written communication with donors
- Proven track record in non-profit fundraising or personal sales
- Ability to communicate professionally and persuasively
- Clear, concise writing skills reflecting full command of English language and grammar
- Prior experience in grant research and/or writing strongly preferred
- Ability to positively support the goals of the department while demonstrating initiative and contributing ideas
- Skilled project manager, able to keep budgets and deadlines, organize multiple tasks, and work positively with a variety of people, including vendors, volunteers and financial
- Good math skills
- Spanish-speaking a plus
- High level of proficiency in standard Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook; and basic knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database with ability to increase knowledge and proficiency.
- Ability and desire to support the mission of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee and the Church
- Understanding of and compliance with the Diocese’s Safe Environment Program
