The Director of Advancement is responsible for supporting the school by directing all development strategies and public relations services at the direction or discretion of the Pastor and in close collaboration with the Principal of the school. This individual is the external face of the school and spends most of their time outside the school creating, building, and encouraging partnerships with community and business leaders, the secular community, local universities and businesses, and the parish community. The Director is responsible for soliciting major gift donors and prospects. They are responsible for all capital and major operational fundraising efforts for the school including an auction and the Annual Fund Drive. The Director of Advancement is responsible for all new student/family recruitment endeavors. Hence, the Admissions Director and Communication Director report to the Director of Advancement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
o Plan, develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan for the school.
o Identify, cultivate, and solicit current and potential donors and sponsors – such as current parents, alumni parents, corporations, and foundations - for all major capital endeavors.
o Identify, cultivate, and secure legacy giving donors through wills, life insurance, trusts and retirement plan designations for a school Endowment program.
o Research & write grant proposals that support segments of the school’s long-range capital improvement plans.
o Ensure all donors and gifts receive proper acknowledgement (gratitude phone calls, personal notes, invitations, etc.) while following IRS rules and guidelines.
o Oversee and ensure a successful School Gala and Auction.
o Direct and manage the Annual Fund Drive
• PUBLIC RELATIONS
o Assist the Communication Director in executing a plan of activities that support relationships between the school and its external constituents (i.e., alumni, alumni parents, parents, donors, parishioners, and friends) who support giving their time and talent to the school.
o Oversee, direct, and manage the Alumni association.
o Oversee, manage and/or plan all advancement events.
o Ensure the website and its social media profiles are active, current, engaging, and professional.
o Attend all major school and parish events.
o Participate in the School Advisory Council and Parish Advisory Council meetings.
o Participate in the monthly Staff Meeting at the Parish
o Contact various local organizations (universities, high schools, businesses, etc.) to develop long lasting and beneficial partnerships.
o Oversee all recruitment and admission activities.
o Develop a marketing plan and strategy to bring new students and families to the school.
o With the assistance of the Principal and the Admission Director, organize at least two Home Room parent meetings to discuss school successes and recruitment strategies.
o Ensure all marketing materials for the school are of the highest quality.
• ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
o Maintains all proper records regarding fundraising activities, donors, and sponsors.
o Prepare all monthly and yearly report regarding gifts and donors.
o Attend weekly meetings as a key member of the Leadership Team.
o Attend weekly meetings with school staff.
o Assist in the development and implementation of the budgets for the school.
o With the Pastor and Principal, plan, and secure funding for all activities & personnel under the domain of the Director of Advancement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Fluent in English (written and oral) and Spanish (oral)
• Excellent communication and hospitality skills
• 5 years of experience
• Passionate about Catholic Schools and adept at explaining the benefits of a Catholic education.
• A team player able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
• Strong research, planning and organizational skills.
• Ability & willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.
• Understanding of the Catholic Church & traditions.
Education and Experience
• Master’s Degree in Business or Marketing is preferred.
• Current Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Certification.
• Member of All Saints Catholic Parish with an understanding of our Church, School and Parishioners.
