Located in Plano, TX, John Paul II High School (JPII) is a next generation co-educational Catholic college preparatory high school serving families in greater Collin County. The Opportunity

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting to the President of John Paul II High School (JPII) and will be responsible for the following functions of a private high school with a 15-year history and plans for significant growth.

Job Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

GAAP Accounting
Engages external audit firm and creation of annual financial report
Supervise annual audit
Treasury Services
Manage the endowment
Maintain banking relationship(s), and ensure JPII loan covenants are maintained
Arrange short and long-term financing whenever necessary.
Primary check signer

Financial Planning and Analysis
Development and dissemination of the budget
Present analysis and budget to the Board of Trustees
Master and strategic planning in coordination with President and Principal
Develop and maintain forward-looking 5-year plan in light of overall school strategy
Accounting Oversight
Review monthly financials and prepare executive report to President
Complete monthly bank reconciliations and proper accounting of journal entries and ensuring the books are closed timely each month/year
Work with Admissions Director regarding Tuition Assistance, ensuring budget aligns with strategic aims of school
Oversight of finance office support staff of three
Oversight of internal controls
Oversight of fundraising records, as well as related expenditure tracking
Oversight of finances related to third party facility rentals
Oversight of finances related to school booster club(s)
Special areas of focus
Coordinating all financial matters related to the growth plans of the school
Review and manage all JPII contracts, obtaining necessary risk management and legal reviews where necessary
Part of team to review School wide technology to maximize its utility
Oversight of Coordinator for Human Resources, ensuring all HR related processes are followed according to policy and regulation
Assist in the implementation of Diocesan benefits plans, insurance, and policy


Bachelor’s degree in business related field
10 years’ experience in finance and accounting
Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and/or audits
High level of proficiency with MS Excel and Word
Proficiency with financial databases
Demonstrated experience supervising finance and accounting operations for an organization
Must be willing and able to periodically work after hours and on weekends, as needs of the school dictate
Must be willing and able to support the mission and teachings of the Catholic church. Practicing Catholic preferred
