Job Description

The Youth Faith Formation Team at Christ the King supports life-giving and lifelong discipleship of Jesus through the ministry efforts provided for nursery through high school aged individuals and their families. The Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Evangelization serves as a part of this team. This individual has a deep love for Jesus, a strong understanding of their own missionary call, and a boldness to follow the Spirit’s guidance in deepening and expanding the parish’s current ministry efforts.

The coordinator’s role can be seen as two-fold: Firstly, the Coordinator is directly responsible for high school youth and young adults. Secondly, the Coordinator serves the fullness of the Youth Faith Formation Team in a strategic capacity, working alongside the Pastoral Associate to evaluate the ministry’s effectiveness and develop uniquely tailored, innovative ministry solutions for the Christ the King community.

To be successful in this role, the coordinator is responsible for understanding the community of Christ the King, remaining exceptionally educated on trends impacting youth and young adults, and researching effective and creative ministry initiatives. The coordinator is charismatic, comfortable both in small group conversations with others and speaking in front of crowds, inclined to take initiative, and fearless in trying new things.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Disciple of Jesus Christ who regularly seeks to enhance his or her relationship with God through the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church
-Actively practicing Catholic who participates in the fullness of the sacramental life and lives according to the teaches of the Catholic faith
-Understanding of ministry and theology
-Ability to work as a team player
-Strong interpersonal and pastoral skills
-Comfortable with managing volunteers, employees, and guests
-Open to continued professional growth and development
-Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
-Positive, practical attitude with balanced initiative
-Adept at learning and implementing new technology, digital and social media communications
-Strategic thinker, who anticipates what is to come and navigate the multi-layered dynamics of parish and parish/ school life
-Humble learner and listener
-Willing to take discerned risks, and to understand the importance of prudence and timing in an idea’s success

Education and Experience:
-College degree, preferred in Theology, Ministry, or related field
-Three or more years of ministry experience, preferred
-Ministry experience in more than one parish, preferred

Special Requirements:
-Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
-Ability to travel, potentially by plane or long bus/ car rides
-Ability to sleep in arrangements available on retreats, conferences, mission trips, etc. (For example: bunk beds, air mattresses, shared hotel rooms)

Physical Requirements Specific to the Job:
-Ability to be mobile and to lift supplies relating to role
