Exempt, part-time position reporting to the Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools

The Diocesan Schools Nurse Liaison fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by providing general organizational support within the framework of the Catholic Schools’ Office philosophy, organization, and policies.

The Nurse Liaison is responsible for implementing and updating the Diocesan Schools’ health programs in a way that is best suited for schools. The Nurse Liaison is responsible for maintaining relationships with local nurses and health coordinators, staying abreast of the changes to policies and procedures based on state and local recommendations, and providing training and guidance as necessary to frontline school workers.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the Diocese
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
• Supports the Catholic Schools Office in the preparation of documents, reports, and correspondence
• Maintains current and accurate records according to TCCBED health policies and diocesan policies
• Coordinates the Diocesan Schools COVID-19 Response Team in health-related matters
• Provides relevant guidance to assist school nurses and health coordinators in assuming responsibility for health maintenance of the students, staff and faculty in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic church
• Assists in design and implementation of programs for management of suspected and diagnosed infectious disease such as COVID-19
• Travel to school sites to provide guidance and support in regards to student and faculty health
• Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Catholic Schools Office and TCCBED
• Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
• Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the diocesan schools
• Serves as a professional representative of the principal and school
• Communicates effectively with those in the school community
• Collaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support the school
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:
• Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state of Texas licensure
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing highly preferred
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, preferred
• Nurse Educator background a plus

Certifications and Training:
• Current CPR certification and AED certified
• State vision, hearing, spinal, and acanthosis nirgricans screener
• John Hopkins Contact Tracing Certification, or able to obtain upon hire

Special Requirements:
• Must be available by phone and virtually to handle time sensitive medical and/or contact tracing concerns; flex part-time hours (approximately 20 hours/week)
• Submit to Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment screening process
• Practicing Catholic, preferred
