General Summary of the Position

St. Francis of Assisi Parish is looking for a, hard-working, solutions-orientated, and passionate individual to serve in a brand-new role. St. Francis is recruiting a Technology and A/V Specialist whose main objective is to serve the staff and ministries/volunteers of a very vibrant, bustling, Christ-filled parish and who is responsible for overseeing all technology and audio/visual equipment, functions and operations of St. Francis of Assisi. The ideal candidate has a passion for troubleshooting, research, investigate and problem solve and self-motivated, innovative, and able to perform key tasks independently in a timely manner. This individual should be a self-starter that enjoys working in a team environment and excited to join a growing Catholic community with a diverse culture and spiritual community. This role will require a firm understanding of our church’s vision and values.

This position is a new role and will require a non-traditional work schedule consisting of afternoons, evenings and weekends (some Saturday, most Sundays). If you are not willing/able to work during these time frames, please do not apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

Technology:
• Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure usability
• Responsible for ensuring operational software and licenses for staff receive proper maintenance including (office/outlook, Shelby, eSpace, and Website Hosting.)
• Responsible for overseeing all computer software and applications are within license and up to date (e.g. Office/Outlook, Shelby, Facility Dude)
• Responsible for overseeing website domain and hosting of website.
• Assess infrastructure on a regular basis to ensure it continues to meet necessary demands
• Responsible for installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
• Responsible for performing tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.
• Protect parishioner and staff data from outside infiltration through encryption, secure data storage and other necessary means
• Oversees all parish “floater” laptops/tablets; including overseeing a process for checking out/checking in of all equipment
• Manages full inventory of tech assets, including but not limited to; iPads, tablets, laptops, projectors, adaptors, cables, that are needed for a successful presentation or meeting.
• Collaborate with Ministry coordinator(s) to ensure ministry events and meeting schedule is properly and accurately displayed on parish website and digital display board throughout Parish and Parish Center in both English and Spanish.
• Responsible for overseeing servers are running properly; up to date, backed up
• Lockdown equipment and Security cameras: ensure lockdown equipment and security cameras are properly working; work in tandem with Ministry Assistant(s) and Campus Operations and Ministry Director to identify any activity captured on security cameras requiring investigation.
• Manage office equipment (copiers, interactive displays, digital displays, computers, etc.)
• Must be open to assisting with occasional room set up and tear down for meetings and events
• Set up and assist as needed with requested software and machines, such as PowerPoint presentations, Setup of staff computers/workstations, including telephone, operating systems and application software.
• Responsible for onboarding of new employees and offramping of former employees (e.g. new email address and phone extension, workstation set up, updating email distribution lists)
• Responsible for maintaining parish phone system and voice mail greeting; keep a calendar for adjusting voice mail greeting at various times throughout the year (e.g. Ash Wednesday Mass Times, Christmas Mass Times)
• Install, configure, and decommission desktop workstation hardware, operating system and application software, network, and peripherals. Update and patch operating system software, application software, and firmware as required by policy and/or best practices for operational reliability and cyber security.
• Regularly evaluate parish IT systems to ensure they meet necessary demands.
• Assist with networking administration tasks
• Ensuring data storage is safe and secure.
• Provide support to parishioners and staff and act as the first point of contact for error reporting.
• Responsible for educating coworkers about network security and best practices for computer usage
• Supporting the day-to-day operations of our computer network.
Audio/Visual
• Install and maintain audio and visual equipment by performing preventive maintenance, calibrations, and adjustments.
• Responsible for ensuring the sound systems in the church and chapel working properly always.
• Acts as the staff representative on the sound committee
• Responsible for working with all A/V users (volunteers, musicians, etc.) to ensure all equipment is kept in proper working condition; ensuring all levels and pre-sets on equipment is returned to default positions after each usage
• Responsible for managing all A/V equipment used in church and chapel, including cables, mics, wires and devices needed for Sunday Masses and parish events.
• Serves as a media specialist coordinates audio-visual equipment and materials.
• Knowledge of industry standards in AV systems design and integration
• Responsible for ensuring that all equipment in meeting rooms is working properly
• Responsible for setting up and executing live streaming for designated parish-wide events (e.g. Easter Vigil, Parish Missions, Sunday Masses if applicable)
Overall:
• Responsible for overseeing all technology and audio/visual equipment, functions and operations of St. Francis of Assisi.
• Responsible for the technical relationship with our card access system overseeing system repairs, maintenance & upgrades as well as initiating the installation of new card access pad locations.
• Serve as core team member on all projects involving new software/technology equipment needs
• Responsible for overseeing, including the recruiting, training, managing, and scheduling of the newly formed St. Francis of Assisi A/V team. This team will assist the Technology and A/V Specialist with setting up and running A/V for liturgies, events, and other designated meetings.
• Work with ministry team to ensure ministries and volunteers can properly use equipment in meeting rooms.
• Serve as a customer service representative and liaison: help volunteers and visitors find meeting rooms,
• Responsible for overseeing all A/V and IT vendor relationships including managing contracts and agreements, billing/processing invoices and ensuring projects stay on time and within budget.
• Serve as concierge for volunteers and ministry
• Responsible for managing budget for AV/IT equipment and resources; responsible for managing expenses.
• Advise users on what types of equipment to use depending on the lesson, presentation, or event, as well as how to use that equipment
• Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs.
• Responsible for inventory and maintaining technology supplies and equipment.
• Serve as a resource for all staff and key parish functions, especially catechists, Youth Ministry Director and Children’s Ministry to integrate technology into curriculum
• Serve as a resource for parish on best practices on integrating media and technology in the evangelization experience.
• Possess a strong desire to keep abreast with the latest trends and innovations in the technology and audio/visual fields.
• Develop written policies and procedures for all necessary AV/IT equipment and usage needs as directed by supervisor, Pastor or Senior Director of Operations.
• Responsible for previewing and organizing the available materials into databases.
• Install, service, and maintain other audio/visual systems as applicable
• Cabling is properly dressed/wrapped/bundled or concealed to maintain a professional ambiance of the space.
• Responsible for ensuring the set-up A/V in Church for presentations during Mass, trainings, special events (e.g. monthly “Rejoice” nights).
• Manage equipment to appear clean, undamaged and maintained
• Create and manage a detailed repair/maintenance log of all equipment repairs
• Respond, diagnose, and resolve incident requests and service request based on established policies.
• Responsible for ensuring lighting in Church, Chapel and Great Hall are meeting the needs of the various liturgies and volunteers using spaces. Includes updating/upgrading as appropriate.
• Ensure equipment is consistently functional; working as designed with minimal intervention.
• Manage equipment to appear clean, undamaged and maintained.
• Respond, diagnose, and resolve incident requests and service request based on established policies.
• Responsible for overseeing IT/AV/Technology budget, in collaboration with the Campus Operations and Ministry Director, including submitting annual budget and tracking all applicable expenses.
• Oversee lockdown equipment and technology as well as security cameras
• Serve as concierge for volunteers and ministry

• Must be a Catholic in good standing.
• Must have basic understanding and experience with Windows Server
• Must have experience with Apples systems.
• Must have Microsoft 365 expertise.

Education and Experience:
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
• Associate Degree in an IT related field with 2 years’ experience – OR –
• Cisco Certified (CCNP or higher) with 2 years’ experience

Special Requirements:
• This position requires some/many evenings and/or weekends.
