Bishopâ€™s Golf Tournament Raises More than Half Million Dollars for Catholic Schools

The 2014 Bishop Farrell Golf Invitational was a record-setting success. The golf tournament raised total revenue of $615,000, which includes $45,700 from the live auction, to provide tuition assistance for students in need attending the 28 parochial elementary schools and the three high schools owned and operated by the Diocese of Dallas. The funds raised will provide immediate tuition assistance to more than 475 students at diocesan schools.
Fifty-eight teams made up of 232 golfers participated on both courses at the beautiful TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas on September 29, 2014. Christus Health was the title sponsor of the event. Bishop Kevin J. Farrell, tournament host, expressed his gratitude to Christus and to the other 95 sponsors. “I want to sincerely thank Ernie Sadau, President and CEO at Christus Health, and all of our wonderful sponsors for helping make this such a tremendous success. I also want to offer a special thank you to Dave and Carole Klaudt for chairing this very successful event. I very much appreciate their passion for helping educate children in our community. Thank you to all members of the committee who worked so very hard to help me raise funds to assist students in need attend our Catholic schools. I pray God will abundantly bless all of these wonderful sponsors and volunteers for performing this valuable service to the Diocese of Dallas.”
Fourteen parish teams competed in the Farrell Cup Challenge with the team from St. Rita comprised of Frank Guidone, Dan Walsh, David O’ Connor and Dave Piotrowski taking home the prestigious trophy.
Excitement for next year is already building with the announcement that Marc and Georgia Lyons have graciously agreed to chair the 2015 tournament. The 2015 Bishop Farrell Golf Invitational is scheduled for September 28, 2015 at the TPC Four Season Las Colinas.
