April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Publish Date: April 1, 2019
Every April, child and youth serving organizations, including Catholic dioceses, parishes, and schools, participate in National Child Abuse Prevention Month to highlight the importance of protecting minors from abuse. These efforts are part of the ongoing work of the Church in the United States to carry out the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
We encourage you to participate throughout the month. Contact your diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator to learn more about opportunities to participate in your diocese.
Below are some opportunities to participate, and some resources that can be used in your own local diocese, parish, and/or school.
Call to Prayer, Friday, April 5th
Dedicate April 5th to prayer and sacrifice for the intention: "May survivors of abuse experience God’s profound love for them, and receive comfort and healing." More about the Call to Prayer is available at usccb.org/pray.
Each year, Blue Sunday Abuse Prevention also offers a day of prayer on the last Sunday of April. You can find resources and registration for the Blue Sunday Day of Prayer at bluesunday.org. . . .
