2019 Year-End Giving Deadlines

2019 Year-End Giving Deadlines

Refer to these guidelines to ensure that contributions are received and processed by December 31, 2019, the IRS deadline for yearly tax deduction eligibility.

Please note that the Diocese of Dallas Pastoral Center will close for the Christmas and New Year Holidays on Friday, December 20, 2019 and reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Qualified Charitable Distributions from an IRA – If you are over age 70½, you can donate up to $100,000 tax-free directly from your traditional IRA to a qualified charity and have it count towards your minimum required distribution for 2019. The deadline for receipt of a 2019 distribution is December 31st. Because of the high volume of year-end gifts, contact your IRA administrator as soon as possible to allow enough time for them to process your gift before the end of December. Distributions by check must be dated and have a postmark no later than December 31st and wire transfers must be received by December 31st. Please request that your administrator reference your name and address with the check or wire transfer. If you have any questions concerning a gift from your IRA, please contact John Hughes at or (214) 379-3177.

Checks – Date your check on or before December 31, 2019 and mail via the U.S. Postal Service with a postmark on or before December 31, 2019. Checks dated and postmarked by December 31st and received in 2020 will be counted as 2019 contributions.

Checks may be hand delivered to the reception desk at the Pastoral Center by Noon on
Friday, December 20th

If you are sending a check via a service such as FedEx or UPS, it must be received by the Diocese prior to Noon on Friday, December 20th.  Postmarks apply only to items sent through the U.S. Postal Service.
