With the suspension of all public Masses throughout our diocese, we are facing an unimaginable Holy Week. There will be no Palm Sundays in our parishes, no Triduum liturgies, no Easter Sunday Mass. Yet, even under these circumstances, we can still celebrate Holy Week at home, in a meaningful way.
Drawing Closer to Christ this Holy Week
READ SCRIPTURE DAILY: Pray along with the church, using the daily readings. This is a wonderful way of following Jesus, from Palm Sunday, through Easter morning.
REFRAIN FROM NOISE AND MEDIA: During Holy Week, limit secular television and radio. Instead, opt for listening to sacred music or television shows.
FAITH FORMATION: Holy Week is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth. Read a spiritual book, watch a video or listen to a podcast, all free from Formed.
PALM SUNDAY: Place a branch of any kind on your door or window, publicly acknowledging Palm Sunday, and post and share "Virtual Palms" on your social media channels.
HOLY THURSDAY: Have a simple foot washing ceremony with the family. Read John 13: 1-15. Wash each other’s feet. Share ways you can be of service to one another. The rest of the evening, spend in quiet, spending time with Jesus in the Garden.
GOOD FRIDAY: Keep a period of silence from noon – 3pm. At 3pm, venerate the cross. Read John 18: 1-19:42 and spend time before the crucifix. Pray the Stations of the Cross.
HOLY SATURDAY: Rest and wait on this day, waiting by Jesus’ tomb. Read John 19: 25-27 and take Mary into your heart and home. Go outside...take a walk around the neighborhood. Use chalk and write hopeful messages on the sidewalk or driveway.

Con la suspensión de todas las Misas públicas en nuestra diócesis, nos enfrentamos a una Semana Santa inimaginable. No habrá Domingo de Ramos en nuestras parroquias, ni liturgias del Triduo, ni Misa del Domingo de Pascua. Sin embargo, incluso en estas circunstancias, aún podemos celebrar la Semana Santa en casa, de una manera significativa.
Acercándonos a Cristo esta Semana Santa
LEA DIARIAMENTE LAS SAGRADAS ESCRITURAS: Ore unido a la iglesia con las lecturas diarias. Esta es una maravillosa manera de seguir a Jesús, desde el Domingo de Ramos hasta la mañana de Pascua.
ABSTÉNGASE DEL DE RUIDO Y LOS MEDIOS DE COMUNICACIÓN: Durante la Semana Santa, limite el tiempo que pasa frente al televisor y a la radio seculares. En su hogar, opte por escuchar música o programas de televisión religiosos.
FORMACIÓN DE FE: La Semana Santa es una maravillosa oportunidad para el crecimiento espiritual. Lea un libro, vea un video o escuche un podcast espiritual, todo gratis en Formed.
DOMINGO DE RAMOS: Coloque una rama de cualquier tipo en su puerta o ventana, reconociendo públicamente el Domingo de Ramos y publique y comparta "Palmas Virtuales" en las redes sociales.
JUEVES SANTO: Realice una simple ceremonia de lavado de pies con la familia. Lea Juan 13,1-15. Lávense los pies unos con otros. Comparta maneras en las que pueden servirse mutuamente. El resto de la noche, páselo en silencio, pase tiempo con Jesús en el Jardín.

SÁBADO SANTO: Descanse y espere este día, esperando junto a la tumba de Jesús. Lea Juan 19,25-27 y lleve a María a su corazón y a su hogar. Salga... de un paseo por el vecindario. Utilice gis y escriba mensajes de esperanza en la acera o en la entrada de su casa.
