    Diocese of Dallas Bishop Kevin J. Farrell’s statement regarding the federal circuit court ruling that halted President Barack Obama’s executive order to suspended deportations of millions of youths who came to the United States illegally while they were children.

    The federal court order is greatly disappointing.  This latest action once again sharply highlights the need for the reform of immigration laws that appear to value the much needed labor immigrants perform in this country while showing no concern or dignity for them as human beings.  I pray the ruling will be overturned for the sake of all of the families who merely want to work, live and bring up their families in the peace and safety this great country provides.

     

    TCC Bishops Disappointed in Immigration Ruling

    “The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops today expressed disappointment in a federal circuit court ruling that halted President Barack Obama’s executive order to suspended deportations of millions of youths who came to the United States illegally while they were children.

    While we pray that the court’s ruling will be overturned, it nonetheless comes at a time when the Catholic Church and other advocates have been strenuously pushing both the U.S. Congress and the White House to move forward on comprehensive immigration reform.  The federal court order only demonstrates the continued dysfunction of the U.S. immigration laws, which often seem to value the work of these immigrants but not their rights and dignity as human beings.

    At most, the executive order would have been a temporary reprieve for those millions of undocumented children who have grown up in our communities, schools, and neighborhoods; they have known no other home.  For the sake of these families who want only the chance to live, work, and keep their families, we call upon political leaders to bring meaningful change to U.S. immigration policy.”

    Declaración del Obispo Kevin J. Farrell de la  Diócesis de Dallas con respecto a la decisión del tribunal federal de circuito que detuvo la orden ejecutiva del Presidente Barack Obama de suspender las deportaciones de millones de jóvenes que llegaron ilegalmente a los Estados Unidos siendo niños.

    La orden del tribunal federal es muy decepcionante.  Esta última acción, una vez más, destaca claramente la necesidad de una reforma a las leyes de inmigración que parecen valorar la tan necesaria labor que realizan los inmigrantes en este país, pero que no muestran preocupación alguna por su dignidad o por ellos como seres humanos.  Le pido a Dios que la sentencia sea revocada por el bienestar de todas las familias que lo único que buscan es trabajar, vivir y criar a sus familias en la paz y seguridad que ofrece este gran país.

    TCC Obispos Decepcionados por Sentencia de Inmigración

    "El día de hoy, la Conferencia Católica de Obispos de Texas expresó su decepción por el fallo del tribunal federal de circuito que detuvo la orden ejecutiva del Presidente Barack Obama de suspender las deportaciones de millones de jóvenes que llegaron ilegalmente a los Estados Unidos siendo niños.

    Aun cuando nos mantenemos en oración para que el fallo del tribunal sea revocado, esto llega en un momento en que la Iglesia Católica y otros defensores han estado presionando enérgicamente al Congreso de los Estados Unidos y la Casa Blanca para impulsar una reforma migratoria integral.  La orden del tribunal federal sólo demuestra la disfunción continua de las leyes de inmigración de los Estados Unidos, que a menudo parecen valorar el trabajo de estos inmigrantes pero no sus derechos ni su dignidad como seres humanos.

    A lo sumo, la orden ejecutiva habría sido un respiro temporal para esos millones de niños indocumentados que han crecido en nuestras comunidades, escuelas y barrios; y que no conocen otro hogar.  Por el bienestar de estas familias que solamente buscan la oportunidad de vivir, trabajar y mantener a sus familias, hacemos un llamado a los líderes políticos para que aporten un cambio significativo a la política de inmigración de los Estados Unidos."
