Please be aware that when an adult approaches the parish to arrange for the sacraments of a minor child, it must be confirmed that he/she has the legal authority to do so. If her/his name is not reflected on the birth certificate, or in the case of an already baptized minor child, on the baptismal certificate, please ask for documentation that shows this person has the legal right to arrange for the spiritual needs of this child. Be mindful also that in the case of minor child of parents who are divorced, it is imperative to review the divorce document to determine which parent has been given the right to make the determination about the child's religious education and spiritual development. If there is any question as to whether the person has the legal (canoncical and civil) right to do so, please contact Margaret Gillett at (214) 379-2840 or.
